Custom Leathersmith

Hello.  My name is Wolf Daniel Braun.  I have been a leathersmith since 1977.  I also owned a cobbler’s shop from 1979 until I retired in 2007 and moved to Hawaii.  I still do leatherwork as you can see on this website.  I make belts, bags, chaps, briefcases, backpacks, satchels, purses, vests and anything that catches my attention.

You can check out my portfolio of projects going back to 1978.  Many of these can be reproduced in size and color to suit you.

Be sure to look at my stock design page.  These are a variety of styles that can be ordered with very little lead time.

I work with cow, bull, deer, elk, moose, and buffalo.  Colors vary according to my stock but I can order almost any color for special projects, as well as a variety of exotic leathers.

If you have a special project or if you are inspired by any of my work, I will be happy to custom design a piece made just for you.  You can call me and we can discuss it on the phone, or by e-mail or snail-mail.  I also do repairs, so if you have something that has become worn or damaged, let me know and perhaps i can bring it back to life.  I can also reproduce a new version.

Just a word about my improvisational stitching.  Since I use a treadle sewing machine, I can sew as slow as I want.  I like to lay the leather on the machine table and just free sew .  The designs that come out are free flowing and frequently have a flame motif.

The most important thing I have to say about myself is that I love what I do and it shows in my work.
